At Studyworks, we pride ourselves on hiring the best of the best. A majority of our teachers are full-time educators or business professionals who have a knack for working with students. We employ dynamic teachers who can not only educate, but also entertain.
After going through multiple interviews and background checks, Studyworks teachers receive extensive test prep training. Teachers learn our time-tested curriculum by going through our four-week training program. Our teachers understand the most common mistakes students make on standardized tests and how to avoid the test makers tricks and traps.
Most "school programs" simply hire Math teachers to teach the math subjects and English teachers to teach the verbal subjects, but at Studyworks our teachers focus on test prep strategies that aren't taught in your typical high school classes.
All Studyworks teachers hold a Bachelors degree or higher and have previous teaching experience at either the k-12 or college levels. A majority of teachers hold Masters degrees or higher; we seek experienced teachers and therefore do not hire college students.

C. M.C.M. has been tutoring students in various subjects since his high school days back in the 1980's. He graduated in the top of his class at Bishop Kenrick High School in Norristown, PA and it earned him a full academic scholarship to LaSalle University, from which he graduated with honors in 1992. During his college years, he worked as an academic tutor for the Athletic Department. After graduation, C.M. went to Japan as a native English-speaking teacher for the JET Programme, a highly competitive assignment that is the only program of its kind actually sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Education. While there, he served both as a cultural representative and a full-time language instructor. C.M. taught daily in a rural middle school and also organized adult evening classes. Upon his return to the US, he continued to be active as an academic tutor. While not a current member, C.M. previously met all qualifications for Mensa membership. C.M. has been teaching tactics and strategies for the SAT since February 2002. He’s tutored hundreds of students in both classroom and individual settings with fantastic results. SHANNON MCCLAYShannon is a graduate of the University of Delaware and is certified to teach English in both Delaware and Pennsylvania. She currently teaches English, journalism, and a college preparatory class at a public high school in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Shannon has an extensive reading, writing, and editing background. She has edited newspapers in high school and college. She has taught both writing and literature intensive courses, and British and American Literature. Aside from having a great deal of experience tutoring, Shannon is an excellent test taker and writer, which is an asset when tutoring for the SAT. As a senior in high school, Shannon scored a 670/800 on the math portion of the SAT and a 770/800 on the reading portion. She also scored a 5/5 on the AP English Literature exam and was named an AP Scholar with Honor, which means that she scored over a 3.25 average (my actual average was a 3.75) and scored at least a 3/5 on four or more exams. The other exams that she took were AP Biology, US Government, and US History. These exams, unlike the SAT, are predominately essay writing. Shannon has also prepped students for the DSTP (which is the Delaware State standardized test) and for the PSSA exam (which is the Pennsylvania standardized test). These tests, at the high school level, are very similar to the SATs. Click here for student comments.
