Who is Studyworks: Studyworks was an early pioneer of SAT test preparation. We had our first students in 1975, starting in a basement of a suburban Washington, DC home. For years the SAT creator, the Educational Testing Service (ETS), claimed that prep programs were a waste of time and money. With such claims coming from such a prominent source, Studyworks' early years were difficult. Slowly Studyworks grew and times changed. We are now the third largest SAT prep group in America and have classes coast to coast. More remarkable is the fact that ETS now promotes its own preparation programs. Although we have grown substantially, we endeavor to maintain the quality and concern that we have had for 30 years. We limit our service to just the SAT and PSAT, and this allows us to concentrate on the strategies that are exclusive to these exams.

What makes Studyworks different from other SAT prep companies: The first difference we would like to point out is the fact we offer classes specifically designed for students in a particular scoring range (see course descriptions). We believe and statistics prove that this helps students improve their score by maximizing their time and focusing on the specific questions being answered incorrectly. We have specialized classes ranging from students who need to learn the basic skills of the SAT to students who have scored in the 90th percentile or higher on the PSAT or SAT. The questions on the SAT progress from easy to hard and should be taught in the same manner. Therefore, in order to use the time efficiently, teaching in the order of progression requires the class to have similar starting points. Over 85% of our teachers hold graduate level degrees and they are not only experts on content but have also been trained how to teach students to think their way through the test. Many students know the content needed to do well on the SAT, but they do not know how to apply that content when the question requires critical thinking skills. Our curriculum is designed to teach kids how to think, or what is more commonly known as "tricks to the test." Studyworks is the only prep company offering unlimited retakes and a 300-point guarantee. The average point increase for Studyworks students over the last 4 years (1600-point scale SAT) has been 200 points, so therefore we actually refunded money to those kids who did not improve 200 points or more. We care about your kids and will do everything in our power to help them.
Why should our school work with Studyworks: Studyworks is committed to helping students and building relationships with the local community. Obviously, we are a business and would like to be successful, but what makes this situation so appealing is that our philosophy allows us to offer many free services to schools. Not only are many of our services free, but they can and will raise money for your school or community. Even more important than the money our services may raise is the fact that we will assist your students in any way your school requests.

Is there a limit on how often I can use your services: Obviously, this question only applies to our free services. The answer is no, there is not a limit. For example, if you choose to offer the free diagnostic test and analysis we suggest you offer it twice a year, once in September and once in the spring, however there is no limit. You could offer the free practice test every weekend if you choose.

Does Studyworks use the available programs to promote or "sell" themselves:
No, our services will focus on SAT awareness and knowledge. We feel the more the student knows about the SAT, the more likely they will feel compelled to prepare for the exam. Our name will be present on various handouts necessary for some of the programs (e.g., practice test and diagnostic score report). However, if requested by the school, the Studyworks name can be removed from all literature. We will not speak about our services unless requested or if the question, "How do you suggest preparing for the exam?" is asked. In that case, we will mention a range of preparation resources from bookstores to private tutoring and everything in between. During the answering of this question we will briefly mention our services. A school representative is welcome and requested to attend all of our programs.
